Software Alert: All Versions of HemaTrax Standalone
This alert is valid for all versions of the HemaTrax
Standalone Application (including the most recent release, Version 6.2).
A customer has recently reported that after editing a bacterially monitored
platelet product, that when the product label was printed the product name was
printed as shown below:
PLATELETS-7D
The product name should print as follows:
PLATELETS-7d
This is the result of the product editing logic forcing all characters read from
the database or entered from the keyboard to upper case.
The product label database is built with the "d" in lower case. The problem only
arises if the product record is then edited and saved, then the "D" is shifted
to upper case. If you delete the altered record, your edits will disappear and
the "d" will return to lower case as the original record will be restored.
This issue will be fixed in a patch or update in the future.

Software Alert:
This is not so much an alert about a software release as it is a report about a
few problems found in the ICCBBA product tables.
Earlier this month a customer reported that the product description text located
in the HemaTrax product label database did not match the label information.
Further investigation showed that the molecular formula in the ICCBBA database
did not match the product description also listed in the ICCBBA database for
that product.
We scanned down through the ICCBBA table and uncovered several more products
with the same issue. I then elected to write a program that would read the
"attribute.txt" and "class.txt" files and use the descriptions in those files to
match the description portion of the "productdescription.txt" file. That program
detected over 800 product codes with description anomalies. We reported these
inconsistencies to ICCBBA and most of these product records have been corrected
in the late February and early March updates posted on the ICCBBA web site.
This PDF document lists product
for which there are still inconsistencies between the attributes and class file
and the product descriptions in the "productdescription.txt" file. It is my
understanding that these codes will likely be assigned obsolete dates and new
codes will be issued in the near future.
The HemaTrax product label database generator uses the description found in the
ICCBBA database, so for the immediate future there may be product descriptions
that do not match the label information. The descriptions are wrong, but the
label information is likely correct. This is because the label content is
generated based on the ICCBBA molecular formula and not the description found in
the record.

Software Alert:
HemaTrax Print Server - Version 2.1
HemaTrax Print Server - Version 2.2
HemaTrax Print Server - Version 2.21
When attempting to print a full face label for a product that takes a collection
date, the print server will respond with the "ERR 033: Collection date in
exp.date quadrant" error message.
It has been reported and confirmed that when printing a full face label with a
product that requires a collection date that the print server will respond to
the request with the "ERR 033: Collection date in exp.date quadrant" error
message. This happens even though the content of the request is properly
formatted and contains correct date information and flags.
We confirmed this problem by sending a product code of "E1886" ( SOURCE PLASMA )
to the Version 2.21 print server sending with the current date and the
collection date flag set to "T".
We also tested HemaTrax Print Server Versions 2.1, 2.2 and 3.0.1 which all
produced a full face label successfully.
HemaTrax Print Server - Versions 2.1 and 2.2
When attempting to print a product/date label for a product that takes a
collection date, the print server will respond with the "ERR 033: Collection
date in exp.date quadrant" error message.
When we were testing for this problem reported for the full face label we also
tested for the problem with the one way product/date label. We discovered that
the same error was issued for that label with Versions 2.1 and 2.2, however
these versions did print the full face label.
Resolution of the issue:
The only solution to this is to migrate to the most current version of the print
server, Version 3.0.1

Software Alert: Verrsion 3.0 RFP Announcement
Today, 10 August 2007, the HemaTrax Print Server, Version 3.0, has cleared
validation testing and is now "ready for production" (RFP). Installation CD-ROMs
may be requested by HemaTrax Print Server integrators who are registered
licensees of the HemaTrax Software Development Kit.
All of our registered integrators will be receiving User ID and Password access
so that this and future releases will be immediately available as a download
from our Lifecycle Software Support (LSS) web site. You should be receiving
notification via e-mail shortly.
The 3.0 release is loaded with many enhancements, modifications and corrections.
So much so that it isn't practical to list all of them here. Please download the
HemaTrax TCP/IP Print Server - Interface Programming Guide - Version 3.0 and
read the "Version Notification" section to quickly see the changes and new
features.
I would like to thank all of you for your invaluable assistance, bug reports,
and patience during this last maintenance cycle.

Software Alert: HemaTrax Print Server Version 3.0
The Version 3.0 release of the HemaTrax Print Server will include an important
enhancement that all integrators will welcome. The next release will support
facility and licensee names up to one hundred characters in length.
Facility and licensee names will wrap to two lines, each line up to fifty
characters in length. Inclusion of the vertical bar character, "|", in the
facility or licensee name field of the label request message will force a line
break at that point. In the absence of the vertical bar character, the print
server will attempt to find a logical break point in the line where a space,
comma or dash may appear. The print server will automatically adjust character
height and width to fit the name, location and registration number text on the
label.
In cases where a facility name and separate licensee name are both included and
both wrap to two lines the font size will dip below six point type. This is a
very small type size, nearing the limits of text legibility and also approaching
the limits of the SATO and Zebra Technologies printers' scalable vector font.
This change impacts the ABO-Rh/Date & Time, Date & Time, Facility,
Facility/Product, Full Face and Product/Date & Time label formats.
This enhancement has held up the Version 3.0 release of the Print Server. More
than one company had customers with name lengths that exceeded the print
server's capacity and felt that it was important that this extension be
implemented before the next release. As a result we've had to delay the
validation to employ the additional testing that is needed. Should validation
testing continue to go smoothly, we'll likely be releasing the Print Server by
August 1st.
