HemaTrax Print Server versions 1.7 and
1.71 only – Print Unit ID Sets
- In the Server machine
where HemaTrax Print Server program is currently installed,
locate the Digi-Trax Corporation sub-directory in the
Program Files directory and double-click on it.
- If no other HemaTrax
program is installed, only the HemaTrax Print Server program
folder will be listed. Figure below shows multiple HemaTrax
applications including the HemaTrax Print Server program.

- Double-click on
the HemaTrax Print Server folder. Figure below shows
sub-folders and files associated with the HemaTrax Print Server
program.

- Locate the
Format folder and double-click on it. If no replicant Unit ID
Set format has been added previously, only one format will be
available as shown below.

- Now save the
copy of the “FORMAT6M.FMT” into the
C:\Program Files\Digi-Trax Corporation\HemaTrax Print
Server\FORMAT folder.
- Run and start the
HemaTrax Print Server program if it has been closed.
- From the already running
HemaTrax Print Server program, click on the “Printer
Settings” tab. If multiple serial ports are available from this
Server machine then HemaTrax Print Server will display them
in multiple columns as shown below.

- If no serial port is
already assigned from any of the “Printer Settings” columns to print
Unit ID Sets labels then select one by clicking on any
of the cells or rows in the just selected column and begin assigning
all applicable serial port settings as well as label assignment and
correct printer model to use to print Unit ID Sets labels.
Skip this step otherwise.
Note: The serial port
selected for this particular label printing is displayed in the
“Selected Comx Port” display panel.
- If, however, there is
already a serial assigned to print Unit ID Sets labels then
select this column by clicking on any of its cells or rows and
change the content of the “X-Offset” entry edit box to 3 if
using the Sato CL-412 series printer. If, however, the target
printer is the Zebra Z4M series printer then adjust the horizontal
and vertical positions by changing the contents of the “X-Offset”
and “Y-Offset” entry edit boxes to 1.5 and –1
respectively. Make sure all other entries specific to printing “Unit
ID Sets” labels are properly set then click on the “Save”
button to accept the change and minimize the HemaTrax Print
Server window.
- To test print using the
included HemaTrax HTClient test program installed in the same
Program Files directory as the HemaTrax Print Server,
run this program by double-clicking its program icon. From the
currently displayed HTClient test program window, click on
the “Select” menu then select and click on the “Data Access Suite”
item from the pull-down selections. Establish the client-to-server
connection with the HemaTrax Print Server program by
specifying the proper server machine’s IP address and listening port
number in the “Data Access Suite” window and click on the “Open”
button located below the “Server Connection Information” panel.
Close this currently opened window by clicking on the window close
button x.
Note: Do not click on the “Close”
button in the “Data Access Suite” window after the client-to-server
connection is established. This will disconnect the client-to-server
connection.
- Click on the “Select”
menu then select and click on the “Label Printing Suite” item from
the pull-down selection. In the now opened “Label Printing Suite”
window, select the “Unit Id / Facility” tab page. In the “Unit ID
Format” entry edit box, change its current content to FORMAT6M
or enter this text if the “Unit ID Format” entry edit box is
currently empty.
- In the “Unit Number”
entry edit box, enter an ISBT-128 unit number.
- From the “COM Port” combo
box pull-down selections, select the assigned serial port previously
set in the HemaTrax Print Server program to print Unit ID
Sets labels.
- Now select the “Unit ID
Set” button from the group of “Print Label” buttons and click on it
to begin printing Unit ID Sets label.
- Verify barcode and text
positions in the labels -- adjust X-Offset or Y-Offset value if
necessary from the HemaTrax Print Server program.
- Test printing of Unit
ID Sets labels using actual client program other than
HTClient test program is beyond the scope of this procedure.
Make sure the “Print Unit ID Set” message being sent to the server
from your client program contains the new label format file name
parameter. The Unit ID Sets print label message should appear
as follows:
PUN,”<Port Number>”,
“FORMAT6M”,”<Facility Code>”, “<Collection Year>”,
”<Sequence Number>”,”<ISO Check Character>”<cr>
- END OF PROCEDURE.
